The LSU Tigers dropped their first game of the 2025 season 24-19 to the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday afternoon. The offense continued to struggle, and while the defense kept the Tigers in it, Ole Miss' dynamic offense was simply too much to handle in the end. Ole Miss out-gained LSU 480-254, and the Rebels posted a 8-for-16 mark on third down while the Tigers went a measly 2-for-12.

To make matter worse, LSU suffered multiple injuries in the contest. Perhaps most notably, LSU's top wide receiver Aaron Anderson departed in the first half and would not return. Anderson is dealing with multiple injuries. Here's what we know so far.

Aaron Anderson injury update

Anderson is reportedly dealing with both an elbow injury and a knee issue. Just before halftime, ESPN sideline reporter Molly McGrath reported that Anderson was dealing with a strained right elbow. Said McGrath on the broadcast: "LSU wide receiver Aaron Anderson strained his right elbow. He was in visible pain and couldn't lift that right arm."

Anderson tried to stay in the game with a brace on his right elbow. But shortly after returning to the action, he sustained a separate injury to his knee. He was seen hobbling around on the sideline and did not play at all in the second half. The redshirt junior receiver had two catches for 12 yard before his departure.

Anderson entered Week 5 as LSU's leading receiver with a team-high 21 catches for 293 yards through four games. He led the Tigers in receiving yards (884) and catches (61) to go along with five touchdowns in 2024.

Hopefully, Anderson is able to rest up and get healthy during the upcoming bye week. But the fact that he is dealing with two separate injuries is a cause for concern. The LSU offense looked out of whack again against Ole Miss, and being without Anderson for an extended period of time would be another issue for the Tigers to overcome.
