The news of Rodgers and the Jets parting ways shakes up the entire offseason as the team may now enter a rebuild. If the Jets are to reshape their roster the two players everyone will keeping their eyes on are Wide Receiver Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson.
The Jets had just traded for Davante Adams looking to revive some of the magic Adams and Rodgers had in Green Bay but, it didn't help the Jets offense. Adams has two seasons left on his contract but, the Jets likely won't want to rebuild with a 32 year old wide receiver taking up a hefty chunk of the salary cap.
While Davante Adams will dominate the headlines given his relationship with Rodgers, the biggest story revolves around what the team will do with Garrett Wilson. The 24 year old wide receiver has shown flashes of greatness but, the Jets revolving door of quarterbacks has kept Wilson from fully hitting his groove. Wilson has expressed his displeasure with the situation and as the Jets search for a long term solution at Quarterback Wilson may ask to be traded.
If the Jets are going to move on from either of their superstar wide receivers that is incredible news for Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders. After the Rookie broke out, the team's top priority will be surrounding him with elite talent to push for a Super Bowl while he's still on his rookie contract. Daniels and Terry McLaurin both had an incredible chemistry but, outside of McLaurin the team lacked another top weapon.
Trading for Garrett Wilson will make the most sense for the Commanders as it'd give Jayden Daniels a young weapon about to enter his prime that the team can build around long term. All Garrett Wilson has been looking for is consistency at Quarterback and Coach which he'd get in Washington.
Pairing Jayden Daniels up with Garrett Wilson and Terry McLaurin makes a ton of sense for both teams as Washington would quickly have an elite wide receiver pairing. The New York Jets would land themselves a slew of NFL Draft capital which would help as the team looks for their franchise quarterback.
If the Commanders wanted to save draft capital they could make the move for Davante Adams which would give them an answer at wide receiver but, only in the short term. The benefit in trading for Adams over Wilson is that the Commanders could keep their first round pick and land Daniels another young weapon.
