The LSU Football team opened up its game against Oklahoma in impressive fashion scoring on its second drive of the game when Garrett Nussmeier found Kyren Lacy for an 18-yard touchdown. The next drive on offense was less impressive as Garrett Nussmeier was stripped and Oklahoma scooped and scored tying the game at 7. The Tigers next drive wasn't impressive and it was scary as Garrett Nussmeier went down with what seemed like a serious upper body injury.

The Tigers got some help while Nussmeier was injured as Caden Durham ripped off a massive run setting up a Damian Ramos field goal and after Oklahoma scored, Aaron Anderson filled in for Zavion Thomas and returned the kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown.

When Garrett Nussmeier returned to the locker room it was far and away the best version of Garrett Nussmeier, we've seen all season. His first drive out of the locker room he went 4-4 passing for 60 yards with a 40-yard touchdown to Chris Hilton Jr.

After halftime, Garrett Nussmeier found Chris Hilton Jr again on the deep ball this time with a perfectly placed 45-yard bomb for a touchdown.

On the ensuing drive the defense wanted to join in on the fun and as the defense sniffed out an Oklahoma trick play, Ashton Stamps pressured the receiver into throwing an interception right to Sage Ryan.

LSU would later kick a pair of field goals to cap off what was a dominant game from this team. This game was far and away the most complete performance we've seen from LSU this season against a capable opponent.

Garrett Nussmeier turned in an incredibly gritty performance where he clearly wasn't 100% yet, he dominated for this team. Nussmeier completed 22 of 31 attempts for 277 yards and three touchdowns while making a few impressive plays with his legs. After that hit, Nussmeier was on fire completing deep balls, getting the ball out quickly, and making plays with his lefs all while taking care of the football.

Caden Durham gave the Tigers another massive performance with 80 yards on the ground and 32 yards receiving as his breakout season continues. Chris Hilton looks like he's finally knocked the rust off as he caught a pair of passes for 85 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The 17 points on the scoreboard don't tell the story of the defense as 7 points came off of a Garrett Nussmeier fumble. This game was far and away the most physical we've seen the defense play as they took the game to Oklahoma.

The most fiery of the group was Whit Weeks who was all over recording 15 tackles 9 of which were solo tackles with 2 tackles for a loss, and a sack. Right up there with Weeks was Zy Alexander as he made play after play on the edge while he wasn't thrown at.

A flash into the future of the defense

If you're looking for a player to be excited about next season, Dominick McKinley flashed his ability with four tackles and a pair of sacks as he'll likely push for a bigger role next season. Freshman Linebacker Dahvon Keys is right up there with McKinley as he's seen his playing time increase and he rewarded Blake Baker with 9 tackles and a sack.
