An LSU Legacy decommitted on Sunday but, can the Tigers make a push this time around?
This weekend, LSU losing on the road hurt the Tigers in a big way in a recruiting aspect as it gave the Texas A&M a ton of momentum while setting the Tigers back. There were a ton of LSU targets at the game including the top player in the 2026 class from Louisiana Lamar Brown who said Texas A&M is now the top school on his list and 2025 wide receiver CJ Wiley.
CJ Wiley is the son of an LSU legend, former LSU defensive end Chuck Wiley who played for LSU from 1994 through 1997. While at LSU, Wiley was named to the Second-Team All-SEC in 1995 and to the first team twice in 1996 and 1997.
CJ Wiley is a four-star wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class ranked as the 12th ranked wide receiver and the 81st ranked player in the class. At 6 foot 4 210 pounds, Wiley is one of the most sought after wide receivers in the country.
The Tigers made a push for Wiley but, when he initially committed, he chose Florida State over LSU, Georgia, and other schools. On Sunday, after Florida State fell to 1-7, Wiley reopened his recruitment decommitting from Florida State.
The bad news for schools like LSU and Georgia is that CJ Wiley was in attendance on Saturday Night as Texas A&M knocked off LSU. The Aggies have a ton of momentum on the recruiting trail as they've landed three commitments since that game ended and more very well could be on the way.
The LSU Football program has struggled landing the elite wide receivers in this class and they'll certainly push for CJ Wiley as they've remained in contact despite his commitment. Can LSU do enough though, as Texas A&M seemingly has all the momentum while Georgia was the expected pick the first time Wiley committed.
We won't know if LSU has any momentum unless the Tigers are able to get him back onto campus for a game but, seeing a legacy play elsewhere would sting.
