The Tigers kicked off their massive weekend in the Greenbrier Tip Off facing off against the Pittsburgh Panthers. The LSU Basketball team had a chance to pick up two big wins this weekend which could've helped the Tigers when March comes around and LSU is vying for an NCAA Tournament bid.

The Tigers didn't have their game shooting on Friday possibly due to playing in a different setting and it cost them as they fell to Pittsburgh 74-63. The Tigers made just 22 of 59 shots from the field shooting just 37.3%. The three pointer wouldn't fall for the Tigers either as they made just 5 of 21 attempts. The most troubling number is the 6 misses that LSU had at the free throw line leaving 6 points off the board which could've made this game much closer down the stretch. A long stretch to start the second half where LSU couldn't score allowed them to be outscored by 12 points in the second half.

The Tigers turned the ball over far too much as well with 15 turnovers as a team while Pittsburgh turned it over 13 times.

Vyctorius Miller had another massive game while Jalen Reed turned in a massive performance in the loss. Miller finished with 14 points making 3 of 6 shots from the field and 2 of 3 shots of deep while he went 6 of 7 at the free throw line. Reed turned in 14 points as well, grabbing 7 rebounds making 6 of 10 shots from the field.

It was a tough game for LSU's veteran transfer guard Cam Carter and Jordan Sears who have been outstanding this season. Carter made just 3 of 12 shots from the field while going 0 for 5 from three point range finishing with 11 points. Sears went 2 of 8 shooting scoring five points but, his 6 turnovers led the team.

A speed bump but, LSU will grow from this game

While LSU losing this game stings the Tigers a bit, it gives Matt McMahon and his staff a ton to work on with this team which will hopefully help the group in the long run. The Tigers only played one serious opponent before this game and as they pick up experience against some of the better teams we'll start to see this team take form. LSU will comeback on Sunday to face the loser of the UCF Vs Wisconsin game which gives LSU a great chance to leave West Virginia with a nice win over a potential tournament team.
