The search for Brian Kelly's replacement as the head coach at LSU is underway. The process is off to a chaotic start, as Louisiana governor Jeff Landry's comments have put the national spotlight on LSU for all the wrong reasons. That could backfire and cause some potential candidates to shy away, but the fact remains that LSU is one of the premier jobs in all of college football.
LSU doing its best to turn the best job available in college football into the worst
With that in mind, one name linked to LSU says he is staying put at his current position. On the Rich Eisen Show, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning said there's "zero" chance he leaves Oregon.
"It's zero. Yeah, I'm not leaving Oregon. As long as I win, that's what I always tell my kids. If your dad wins, we'll be at Oregon. So I've got to win. That's how it changes."Dan Lanning

Dan Lanning says he's staying at Oregon amid LSU rumors
At just 39 years old, Lanning has cemented himself as one of the best coaches in college football. Lanning owns a stellar 42-7 record in Eugene, and led the Ducks to a Big Ten Championship in the program's first season in the conference last season. The Ducks are 7-1 this so far this season, with their lone loss coming at the hands of current No. 2 Indiana.
Lanning is familiar with the SEC, as he was a GA under Nick Saban at Alabama in 2015 and served as Georgia's outside linebackers coach in 2018 before getting promoted to defensive coordinator in 2019. Coaching under Kirby Smart, Lanning helped lead Georgia to a national title in 2021 before taking the Oregon job. He inked a 6-year, $29.1 million contract with the Ducks in December 2021.
Lanning seems to love being Oregon's head coach, and he has everything he needs to win a title there. Unless things go south quickly in Eugene, Lanning seems to be with Oregon for the long haul. LSU's coaching search has made national headlines every day since Kelly's firing on Sunday, and the process is sure to continue generating plenty of buzz moving forward.
