After missing out on the Final Four in each of the last two seasons, fans of LSU women's basketball are eager to see their team compete for another championship this season.
Flau'Jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams are back, but there are plenty of new faces on the 2025-26 roster. Five freshmen and a handful of talented transfers make up a dynamic group of newcomers, who hope to follow the veteran leadership of Johnson and Williams. Despite the lack of roster continuity, LSU remains a contender with Kim Mulkey at the helm.
Mulkey and her staff are out on the recruiting trail eyeing more top talent to bring to Baton Rouge. Among the names LSU hopes to sign in the 2026 class is Jacy Abii. A 6-foot-2 guard out of Liberty High School in Plano, Texas, Abii is a five-star recruit who is rated by On3 as the No. 12 prospect in the 2026 class.
After narrowing down her list to 10 prospective schools earlier this summer on June 5, Abii has now cut her list down to five. To the excitement of Tiger fans, LSU is still in the running along with UCLA, Texas, Notre Dame, and Tennessee.

South Carolina noticeably absent from Abii's list of finalists
The most notable omission from Abii's list of five finalists is Dawn Staley's South Carolina Gamecocks. LSU and South Carolina have built quite the rivalry in recent seasons, as the two schools have combined to win three national titles in the last four years. The intensity has been heightened this offseason, as former Gamecock MiLaysia Fulwiley transferred from South Carolina to LSU earlier this summer.
LSU and South Carolina are slated to meet on Feb. 14, 2026 in the upcoming season. The Tigers have revenge on their minds, as the Gamecocks snapped LSU's 20-game win streak last season.
