Heading into the offseason, LSU wasn't expecting many changes as Tight Ends Coach and Special Teams Coordinator Slade Nagle was the only coach to take a new job elsewhere. Then LSU got surprising news as the Tigers lost Interior Defensive Line Coach Bo Davis to the Saints just a year after poaching Bo Davis from Texas.
After losing Bo Davis the Tigers had to act quickly as Spring Practice and the busy stretch on the recruiting trail was around the corner. Like Bo Davis, the Tigers hired another former player hiring National Champion Kyle Williams to lead the group. Williams comes with experience having served as the defensive coordinator for In-State Ruston.
On Monday, Bo Davis spoke to reporters where he was asked about what he thought of LSU's hire where he said the following:
"I think they're getting a good person, a good coach. I think it's going to be tremendous for him and the knowledge that he brings from the game to those young men, I think it's going to be unbelievable."Bo Davis
Aside from knowing Kyle Williams from his NFL Career and from following High School Football in Louisiana, Bo Davis knows Kyle Williams from his days at LSU. Bo Davis was on the Tigers Strength and Conditioning staff from 2002-2005 overlapping with Kyle Williams.
Bo Davis also spoke about why he chose to leave LSU dispelling any rumors that he left over the ever changing world of NIL and recruiting.
"No it was just a good opportunity. I think the landscape of recruiting has changed a lot, and it was just for me having an opportunity to come and coach at a great organization like the Saints, I don't think anyone would pass that up."Bo Davis
It'll be interesting to see how the Defensive Linemen develop under Kyle Williams as there may not be a better person to show the players what it takes to win at LSU and Williams long career taught him a ton about the technique that goes into the game.
