The month of February ended on a sour note for the LSU Football Program as the Tigers saw defensive line coach Bo Davis depart after one season at LSU joining the Saints Coaching Staff. The departure left a massive void on LSU's staff just weeks before the start of Spring Camp while also losing a top recruiter.

The Tigers searched for a defensive line coach and hire one of their own as former LSU standout Kyle Williams has accepted the job as LSU's defensive line coach.

Kyle Williams played for LSU from 2002-2005, winning the National Championship in 2003 while being named Second Team All SEC in 2004, First Team All SEC in 2005, and Second Team All American in 2005. After LSU, Williams was a 5th round pick by the Bills who got an incredible return on investment as he played for 13 seasons and was named ot 6 Pro Bowls.

Williams started his coaching career after retiring by volunteering with the Bills helping coach the players that were tasked with replacing him at training camp. Williams first formal coaching job came back in his hometown when he became Ruston's defensive coordinator in 2020. Williams resigned from the role in January and now has the chance to coach at another one of his former stops joining Brian Kelly's staff.

The hiring will also have a massive impact on LSU's recruiting efforts over the next few recruiting cycles. As Ruston's Defensive Coordinator, Williams coached current Tigers Ahmad Breaux and Aidan Anding while he's also coached LSU Recruiting targets such as Ahmad Hudson (Top 2027 TE) and Jayden Anding.

LSU gets the perfect former player to lead the defensive line as Williams knows more than anyone what it takes to succeed at the College level and turn that into a lengthy NFL Career. Williams is now in place ahead of Spring Practice as LSU kicks off Spring Practice on Friday.
