Where there's smoke, there's usually fire. This is what LSU football fans are thinking right now with things going south and fast for Brian Kelly this season. On Saturday night, the Tigers were embarrassed at home by Texas A&M and calls for BK to get fired grew louder.
Angry LSU fans might be getting their wish sooner rather than later. Throughout the day on Sunday, rumors have been flying that Kelly could be on his way out of town. According to Pete Nakos, position coaches were shockingly sent home for the day due to things being clear as mud in terms of Kelly's future. Whoa:
Sources have told @On3sports that LSU position coaches have been sent home from the facility, with Brian Kelly's future with the Tigers an unknown. https://t.co/lQy9kP520U https://t.co/tQMu4J2KMX

Brian Kelly's status as head coach at LSU could not be more up in the air
That's not all, in addition to the Nakos report, insider Pete Thamel has also reported that meetings are taking place in Louisiana and that 'discussions' about Kelly's future are ongoing. The door has fully been opened for the Tigers to fire the veteran coach. Will they end up doing so soon, or will Kelly be given one final chance to turn things around?
If this really is it for Kelly, then it will bring to an end what was a brutal stay in Baton Rouge for him. When Kelly first made his way to campus, the hope was that he could get LSU back to a national championship level and also work wonders with recruiting.
While Kelly has landed some big-name, 5-star recruits, the development hasn't been there and it's fully on him to take recruits' game to the next level. This was also supposed to be a year to remember for the Tigers, but following the Week 9 defeat to the Aggies, LSU now has three losses on its resume.
Barring a miracle, LSU won't be headed to the College Football Playoff in 2025, which is not what anyone expected for the SEC powerhouse. Across the country, we've seen other teams move quickly to fire their coaches. Is Kelly about to join James Franklin and others in that department? Nothing has been finalized, but the latest updates from Thamel and Nakos sure seem pretty telling. Soon enough, we'll find out if Kelly will get fired or not.
