Brian Kelly is no longer the head coach of the LSU Football program. LSU made the decision to fire Kelly on Sunday evening after the Tigers suffered an embarrassing loss in Death Valley to Texas A&M by a score of 49-25. But the rumors had been swirling well before Saturday's contest, as Kelly had delivered yet another underwhelming season thus far in Year 4 of his tenure in Baton Rouge.
A team meeting was held on Sunday night, but the news broke shortly before it was set to begin. After the meeting concluded, Ross Dellinger reported on what Kelly's final words to his team consisted of.
Brian Kelly's final message to LSU Football
"Love y'all. Finish the season." That was part of Kelly's final message to the LSU Tigers before he exited the football facility for good.

Currently 5-3 overall with a 2-3 record in SEC play, qualifying for the College Football Playoff is out of the picture. But the Tigers could still put together a strong end to the season after the bye week. Frank Wilson's first opponent will be none other than the Alabama Crimson Tide, as LSU travels to Tuscaloosa for a matchup on Nov. 8. After that, LSU has a pair of home games against Arkansas on Nov. 15 and Western Kentucky on Nov. 22 before finishing the season in Norman against Oklahoma on Nov. 29.
Kelly leaves behind an LSU Football program that is still starving to compete for an SEC title and National Championship once again. The program hasn't really been close to appearing in the College Football Playoff since its historic undefeated season in 2019. Kelly came to LSU to deliver championships, but he leaves Baton Rouge never coming close. After Nick Saban, Les Miles, and Ed Orgeron all brought National Championships to LSU by Year 4 of their respective tenures, Kelly leaves with a 34-14 overall record, a 19-10 mark in SEC play, and no SEC titles or CFP appearances.
Associate head coach and running backs coach Frank Wilson takes over on an interim basis for LSU. Wilson has been in Baton Rouge on two different occasions. He first came to LSU in 2010, serving as the running backs coach and recruiting coordinator from 2010-15. He returned to the Tigers in 2021 after serving as the head coach at UTSA from 2016-19 and McNeese State from 2020-21.
