When you play in a game that can determine the fate of your season like LSU is this weekend, you hope to be playing as close to full strength as possible. The Tigers have already dealt with a ton of season ending injuries but, the Tigers got dinged up further against Texas A&M. The Tigers lost Garrett Dellinger for at least this weekend but, likely longer as he underwent tightrope surgery on his ankle.
Wide Receiver CJ Daniels also left the game early as he's been dealing with injuries the past few weeks. On Wednesday Night, CJ Daniels was ruled questionable for the game, the positive news is after practicing on Thursday CJ Daniels is now probable for the game.
Having CJ Daniels available for LSU this weekend is massive as he ranks fourth on the team in receiving yards. While Daniels hasn't had the massive season everyone expected when he arrived at LSU, he looked the best he has all season before leaving the Arkansas game with an injury.
The other good news in the wide receiver room is that if CJ Daniels is limited in any way against Alabama, Chris Hilton Jr seems poised for more playing time. Brian Kelly said that Chris Hilton will play more snaps than he did against Texas A&M as he continues to work his way back. Against Texas A&M, Hilton caught two passes for 36 yards but, he left a few plays out there as he mistimed his jump twice on what could've been massive games.
The Passing Game needs every resource available
The LSU Football team has struggled all season running the ball which will only be tougher with Garrett Dellinger out of the lineup. The Tigers offense will likely need another massive effort from its passing game if they're going to win this game. The group is still banged up but, as Garrett Nussmeier continues to have all of his pieces on the field, this offense may finally take the next step.
