Brian Kelly shares an update on Harold Perkins as he weighs his options
On Monday, Brian Kelly spoke with the media and a majority of the discussion was centered around the Tigers offseason which looms ahead. Brian Kelly shared everything from LSU's plans for the transfer portal to the Tigers expectation that CJ Daniels will return to LSU for another season.
One of the players that has a ton of intrigue is Junior linebacker Harold Perkins Jr as he can either return to LSU for another season or declare for the NFL Draft. When Brian Kelly was asked about Perkins and the possibility that he may return, Kelly said the following.
"He’s doing really well in his recovery. He’s been in the building quite a bit now that he’s past the early stages of the repair, now it’s about hard work. I don’t know that he’s made that final decision, I know he’s weighing the options and clearly we would love to have him back, but we know those decisions are not easy. We’ll support him in whatever he decides and provide him the best resources to help him and his family."

The good news for the LSU Football team is that Perkins is still weighing his options which means he hasn't decided against returning. Perkins entered the season as an interesting draft prospect and the lack of tape this season paired with the uncertainty around his knee injury may have damaged his draft stock.
If LSU gets Perkins back next season, the Tigers should move him into the star position where he'll get to play close to the line of scrimmage while not playing edge rusher or inside linebacker. The Tigers will return both Weeks brothers and Dahvon Keys who has played a bigger role as of late while they'll add another four true freshmen linebackers including Zach Weeks who'll get to play alongside his brothers.
Keeping an incredibly talented player like Harold Perkins Jr will only make the Tigers much stronger in 2025 regardless of the role he plays.
