Brian Thomas Jr is making every team that passed on him regret their decision
One of the best strategies for NFL teams in the NFL Draft is drafting an LSU wide receiver as they've been superstars as soon as their Rookie years. The New York Giants had the right strategy taking Malik Nabers 6th Overall and he's been their best player on offense. Brian Thomas Jr didn't get as lucky as he had to wait until the 23rd Overall Pick to hear his name called.
Thus far, Brian Thomas Jr is off to a blazing start to his career with 33 catches for 573 yards and five touchdowns. Thomas' 573 yards ranks 5th in the NFL and his five touchdowns ranks 8th with just one game left this week.
When you consider Thomas' success early on it makes the fact that he fell to the 23rd pick even crazier. There are several teams that would certainly like a do-over as Brian Thomas Jr would make several teams better.
The Bears took Rome Odunze before Brian Thomas Jr and thus far, he has just 17 catches for 246 yards and a touchdown. When you consider that the Bears are missing that deep threat can stretch the defense making things easier on Caleb Williams, Thomas would've made a ton of sense.
The New York Jets took their offensive tackle of the future in Olu Fashanu which is fine but, considering this is an All-In year drafting Thomas would've helped their offense hit another level. The Falcons shockingly took Michael Penix Jr in the top ten after signing Kirk Cousins, given how great of a chance the Falcons have to win the Division, another weapon like Thomas could've been massive for the offense.
Teams have to stop making these mistakes with LSU receivers
The Philadelphia Eagles will regret their decision to take Jalen Reagor every year as Justin Jefferson is off to a Hall of Fame level start to his career. In every draft, it seems like a team is passing on an LSU wide receiver and they almost instantly regret it. We'll see if teams learn from their mistakes in the upcoming draft as we'll likely see Kyren Lacy and CJ Daniels both put their names into the NFL Draft.
