Charlie Weis Jr. has the attention of the NFL. LSU's new offensive coordinator has been linked to several NFL jobs over the last few weeks. Earlier this month, an ESPN report linked Weis to the New York Giants job opening, with Weis ultimately deciding to remain at LSU for the 2026 season.

The NFL came calling again on Monday, as Dianna Russini reported that Weis spoke to the Philadelphia Eagles about their offensive coordinator vacancy. But once again, Weis turned down the NFL to coach the Tigers in the fall.

Charlie Weis Jr. is in high demand, but he remains on board LSU's staff for 2026
When Weis first turned down the Giants job in early January, he told On3's Chris Low that he didn't have interest in any NFL job at this point in time. After garnering further interest from the Eagles, LSU fans can breath a sigh of relief as he won't join Nick Sirianni in Philadelphia and will remain with Kiffin and the Tigers in 2026.
Weis has worked under Lane Kiffin in a variety of different roles. The pair first worked together at Alabama from 2015-16 when Kiffin as the Tide's offensive coordinator and Weis was an offensive analyst. When Kiffin left for the Florida Atlantic job, Weis followed to be his tight ends coach. However, Weis quickly joined the Atlanta Falcons as an offensive analyst before the 2017 season began. But Weis would return to Boca Raton to be Kiffin's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at FAU from 2018-19.
Kiffin and Weis then reunited at Ole Miss when the former hired the ladder to be the Rebels' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in December 2021. Weis remained in that role on Kiffin's Ole Miss staff, and the duo created one of the most explosive offenses in all of college football in Oxford. Ole Miss led the SEC in total offense in 2024 and 2025, and ranked among the highest-scoring teams in the country.
When Kiffin was hired at LSU in December, Weis ultimately followed him to Baton Rouge to be LSU's offensive coordinator. His deal with the Tigers is for three years and $7.5 million. The pair's success at Ole Miss in recent seasons has LSU fans fired up to see what Kiffin and Weis can do in Baton Rouge.
