College GameDay coming to Baton Rouge for must-see LSU women’s showdown

The matchup between LSU and South Carolina coming up on Saturday, February 14 is one of the most anticipated games of the entire college basketball season. South Carolina is currently ranked as the No. 3 team in the country while LSU is in the No. 5 spot.

The matchup between the SEC rivals just got even bigger, as ESPN announced that College GameDay will be in Baton Rouge for the top-5 matchup. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. CT, and the PMAC is already sold out.

College GameDay coming to Baton Rouge for must-see LSU vs South Carolina matchup

College GameDay was also in Baton Rouge when South Carolina visited LSU back on January 25, 2024. The No. 1-ranked Gamecocks beat the No. 9 Tigers by a score of 76-70. In their last meeting, South Carolina ended LSU's undefeated season last January. The Tigers began the season 20-0, but the No. 2 Gamecocks defeated the No. 5 Tigers 66-56 in Columbia. The series now returns to Baton Rouge, with LSU looking to pickup a massive win in front of their home fans.

After suffering back-to-back losses to No. 11 Kentucky and No. 12 Vanderbilt to start SEC play, LSU has gotten back on track with seven consecutive victories. Kim Mulkey's squad is coming off a 103-63 win over No. 24 Alabama in their last contest, and now holds a 21-2 record on the season. Mulkey has now put together 26 straight seasons of 20+ wins, and has the Tigers poised for another run at a National Championship.

Dawn Staley's South Carolina Gamecocks are also 21-2 on the season. Staley has had Mulkey's number, as the South Carolina head coach holds a 6-2 advantage over Mulkey in eight head-to-head meetings.

Before LSU battles South Carolina, the Tigers will take on No. 4 Texas on February 5 and Auburn on February 8. Both of those contests are on the road before returning home to face the Gamecocks on the 14th.
