The past two month have been filled with back and forth rumors as to whether or not Michigan would be able to sway the Nation's Top Quarterback and top overall recruit Bryce Underwood from LSU where he committed in January. The rumors started when Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy went on the Barstool Pick 'em Podcast to declare that he'd be willing to spend up to $3 Million in his own money to buy Michigan a Quarterback.

From that point on, things were radio silent as it seemed Bryce Underwood was still locked in with LSU even taking a visit to Baton Rouge for the Alabama game. Then Underwood shocked everyone when he flipped his commitment from the Tigers to the Wolverines.

News quickly began to come out that Underwood took secret meetings to Michigan but, the factor that shocked everyone was the involvement of Larry Ellison as Michigan's NIL Collective personally thanked him.

It turns out that the person who got the man worth a quarter of a trillion dollars involved was Dave Portnoy.

We now know that the Ellison's saw Portnoy's video and from there the trio held zoom calls with the Underwood's ironing out the deal.

LSU truly ran into a buzz saw

The LSU Football Program fell short in its NIL Offer to Bryce Underwood but, in the end LSU's offer never would have mattered. Larry Ellison simply could've outbid or matched any number LSU offered Underwood which when paired with being the hometown school is an impossible bid to offer. At the end of the day, we now see what a disadvantage LSU is at when it comes to competing with some of these schools on the NIL front and even if the boosters pool funding, there's always a booster out there who will find more money.
