Brian Kelly is looking to add some more names to his 2027 recruiting class. Several top recruits have visited Baton Rouge this season, and Kelly and his staff are hoping that a lasting impact has been made. As it stands, 4-star QB Peyton Houston is the lone commit in LSU's 2027 class. But that could change soon, as one of the top defensive players in the country is set to announce his commitment in the coming weeks.

Top safety in 2027 class announces decision date

Kamauri Dorsey is one of the nation's top prospects. According to the Rivals300 rankings, Dorsey is the No. 12 overall recruit and No. 1 safety in the 2027 class. His recruitment decision is looming, and a decision date has been announced. The Hampton, GA native is set to announce his commitment decision in a few weeks on Nov. 1.

The 6'2", 190-pound safety has offers from over 25 schools, which include several SEC teams. LSU is in the mix, along with Texas A&M, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Tennessee, and Ohio State. Rivals Prediction Machine (RPM) believes that Dorsey is College Station bound to join the Texas A&M Aggies. But with two weeks to go until his decision, nothing is finalized yet, and LSU is hoping it did enough to land Dorsey's services.

A current junior, Dorsey plays on both sides of the ball at Hampton High School. So far this season he has collected 40 tackles and three interceptions on defense while also racking up 708 all-purpose yards and nine touchdowns on the offensive side.
