The position everyone is watching for the LSU Football Program on the recruiting trail is quarterback. After LSU saw Bryce Underwood flip just weeks before National Signing Day, the Tigers weren't able to replace him in the 2026 recruiting class. In the 2026 recruiting class, eyes turn toward quarterbacks Bowe Bentley, Jake Fette, and Jonas Williams as two of LSU's most recent offers and in Williams case, a recruit LSU finished 2nd for on the initial commitment.

The 2027 recruiting class is far more intrguinung as Louisiana has the Nation's top recruit in Elijah Haven while names like Colton Nussmeier, Trent Seaborn, Peyton Houston, and Trae Taylor are among the names LSU has been tied to.

On Thursday, Trae Taylor cut his list from 12 schools to 5 schools keeping LSU in the race while announcing his plans to commit on June 6th.

The news instantly sets a date for LSU fans to follow closely as it'll tell everyone a ton about LSU's plans in the 2027 recruiting class. If the Tigers are able to get Trae Taylor on board it'll be clear that he was LSU's top priority at the position and will allow the Tigers to start building the class around him.

If LSU misses out on Trae Taylor, it'll likely tell you that the Tigers wanted to wait on decisions from In-State stars Peyton Houston and Elijah Haven. Peyton Houston may be the name to watch the next few months as he attended LSU's Junior Day while he had a dominant 2024 season.

Landing Trae Taylor would be a massive get for LSU as Rivals ranks him as the 14th ranked player in the class, the 4th ranked quarterback, and the top player out of Illinois. Beating out Michigan would be tough as Taylor has been on 13 unofficial visits to Michigan. It'll be important to see whether or not Taylor comes to LSU's campus for a visit this Spring.
