Ever since the Chiefs went all-in on Mansoor Delane at No. 6 overall and on Garrett Nussmeier shortly after at No. 249 overall, LSU fans have been waiting for updates from their first practice.

That came on May 1, as Nussmeier threw his first snaps as a Kansas City Chiefs rookie. And he wisely steered clear of his former LSU teammate.

“I probably won’t throw his way,” Nussmeier said after his first practice, per Forbes.

“He’s a great player. It’s been cool to have him around, get to have a familiar face for sure.”

Delane at No. 6 was one of the first surprises, the first-round celebratory one, for LSU fans. The other, the shocking blindside one, came with Nussmeier's jarring freefall to Day 3.

The Chiefs had a nice script planned, though, as the temporary draft stock slide sting turned into a massive LSU reunion.

Reflecting back on it, the ex-Tigers QB believes it was all "meant to be."

“I believe everything happens for a reason and I believe what I went through last year was meant to be,” Nussmeier said.

“Having gone through that, I’ve grown from it and I’ve become a better player, a better person, a better man and so I’m grateful for the struggle. I’m grateful to have gone through that because I know it’s going to help me going forward.”

The first looks of their rookie camps have just came out, and still the Tiger Nation is seeing some Sunday-level caliber from both. They might have a wait a tad bit long to see Nussmeier in action in the regular season, though. But Delane's NFL debut might be much closer than they think.
