A former LSU quarterback has entered the transfer portal once again. TJ Finley made five starts for LSU back in 2020 before leaving the program in 2021. He's had a long and winding college football career since then, and he's hoping it can continue.
Could star QB Trinidad Chambliss follow Lane Kiffin to LSU?
Earlier this week, Finley filed an NCAA waiver for a seventh year of eligibility. Finley has spent time with a whopping six collegiate teams since 2020, and plans to enter the transfer portal to play for a seventh.

Former LSU quarterback TJ Finley hoping to play for a seventh college team
Throughout his collegiate career, Finley has spent time with LSU (2020), Auburn (2021-22), Texas State (2023), Western Kentucky (2024), Tulane (2025), and Georgia State (2025). This past year, he was at Tulane beginning in December 2024, but left the program in the spring without playing a single snap.
In April, ESPN's Adam Rittenberg reported that Finley had been arrested on a charge of illegal possession of stolen things worth more than $25,000. Finley was suspended from the team indefinitely and transferred to Georgia State. There, he appeared in seven games, throwing for 1,244 yards and six touchdowns with seven interceptions.
A native of Ponchatoula, LA, Finley was rated as the best quarterback prospect in Louisiana after a stand-out career at Ponchatoula High School. He stayed in-state to attend LSU, and following an injury to Myles Brennan, started five games for the Tigers as a true freshman in 2020. In those games, he completed 80 of his 140 pass attempts for 941 yards and five touchdowns to go along with five interceptions.
His best season came at Texas State in 2023 when he threw for 3,439 yards to go along with 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions. In his career, he's racked up 7,372 passing yards and 43 touchdowns with 27 interceptions. He's also collected eight rushing touchdowns.
