Lane Kiffin's first few weeks as LSU's head coach have resulted in several recruiting wins. Kiffin signed 14 total players during the Early Signing Period, including a pair of 5-star prospects in Lamar Brown and Richard Anderson. He also flipped three commits from Ole Miss to LSU.
Jayden Daniels gets gut-wrenching news as injuries continue to pile up
As Kiffin continues building his 2026 roster for his first season in Baton Rouge, Tiger fans are eager to see how he approaches the quarterback position. Garrett Nussmeier is out of eligibility, and while Michael Van Buren has been a formidable QB1 down the stretch, his inconsistencies have limited the Tiger offense.
Kiffin has experienced great success developing QBs in the past, most recently with Trinidad Chambliss this season at Ole Miss. Chambliss is a transfer from Ferris State, where he won the Division II National Championship last season. He burst onto the scene under Kiffin in 2025, and Tiger fans are wondering if there's a chance that Kiffin recruits him to LSU to be his QB1 in Baton Rouge for the 2026 season.
Latest comments from Trinidad Chambliss have his future in question
Speaking with the media on Monday, Chambliss was asked about his future and where he'll be playing next fall. His answer has LSU fans wondering if he is exploring the option of following Kiffin to LSU.

"I would have to consider what the best situation is for me. What I feel most comfortable with. Who I trust the most, and just get a feel for every possibility really. There's a lot that goes into that."Trinidad Chambliss
Chambliss is waiting to see if he will receive a waiver from the NCAA for an additional year of eligibility. If it's granted, will he return to Ole Miss? Or will he enter the transfer portal for another opportunity, perhaps in Baton Rouge?
For now, it seems that Chambliss is leaving the door open to any possibility in 2026. His comments don't suggest that he is dead-set on returning to Ole Miss, and with Kiffin now at LSU, transferring to the Tigers could be on his radar of possibilities.
Kiffin hinted at a reunion with Chambliss a few weeks back in a cryptic social media post that featured two emojis of a Tiger and the Trinidad and Tobago flag next to each other. Now that Chambliss appears to be open to the transfer portal, Tiger fans are excited to see if the reunion does in fact happen.
Chambliss burst onto the scene this season and has a bright future ahead
Chambliss began the season as Ole Miss' backup QB, but an injury to Austin Simmons thrust him into the starting role back on September 13 against Arkansas, and he's made the most of his opportunity. He's only lost one game as the starter, and has thrown for 3,016 yards and 18 touchdowns with just three interceptions. He's also rushed for 470 yards and six touchdowns.
LSU fans are quite familiar with Chambliss, as he went wild against the Tigers back on September 27 in Oxford. The Rebel QB led the Ole Miss offense to 484 total yards, accounting for all but 99 of them. He completed 23 of his 39 pass attempts for 314 yards and a touchdown through the air, while also adding 71 yards on 14 carries on the ground in a 24-19 victory for Ole Miss.
Chambliss and Ole Miss are set to battle Tulane in the first round of the College Football Playoff this Saturday.
