After taking the NFL by storm last season with a sensational rookie campaign, Jayden Daniels' sophomore season in the NFL has been plagued by injuries.
LSU and Lane Kiffin must avoid this 5-star QB who will enter the transfer portal
In Week 9, Daniels suffered a dislocated elbow against the Seahawks. He returned in Week 14 to face the Vikings, but unfortunately, aggravated his elbow injury. Now, the he is done for the season.
With three games to go in the 2025 regular season, the Washington Commanders have made the decision to shut down Daniels for the rest of the season. The move doesn't necessarily come as a surprise, as Washington is 4-10 and eliminated from playoff contention.
However, it's still a stinging blow to the former Heisman Trophy winner, as Daniels entered the 2025 season in the MVP discussion after winning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year last season.

Commanders shut down Jayden Daniels for the rest of the season
Daniels' injury problems began early on this season. He missed Washington's Week 3 and 4 games with a knee sprain. He returned for three games but then suffered a leg injury in Week 7 against the Cowboys. After missing Week 8 against the Chiefs, Daniels returned to the field in Week 9 to face the Seahawks, but dislocated his left elbow in the 4th quarter.
He was then sidelined for more than a month before making another return to the field in Week 14 against the Vikings. However, he aggravated his elbow injury further and will not play in Washington's final three games of the regular season.
Given the fact that the Commanders are 4-10 and eliminated from playoff contention, it's a smart move to shut Daniels down for the rest of the season. There's no reason to risk further injury over the next three weeks. The Commanders snapped an 8-game losing streak with a 29-21 win over the Giants this past weekend.
Daniels led the Commanders all the way to the NFC Championship Game last season, and both Daniels and the Washington organization entered the 2025 campaign with high hopes. However, Daniels' injuries have put a serious damper on those plans.
The LSU legend threw for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns last season while also adding 891 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground. In seven games this season, Daniels totaled 1,262 yards and eight touchdowns through the air along with 278 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the running game. Looking ahead, Daniels and the Commanders will be looking for a serious bounce back season in 2026.
