This offseason, the LSU Football team underwent a ton of changes as Brian Kelly vowed to build a College Football Playoff team using the transfer portal. The Tigers went out and brought in the best class yet under Brian Kelly, embracing NIL to compete with other schools for some of the top players in the transfer portal

While LSU brought in a ton of pieces, the Tigers also had to lose pieces, whether it was players who chose to leave or players who LSU decided to move on from to make room for better players. Among the players to leave LSU this offseason was veteran defensive back Sage Ryan, who ended up transferring to Ole Miss.

Ryan spent four seasons at LSU, splitting time between cornerback and safety, racking up 113 tackles, 12 pass deflections, a sack, 4 forced fumbles, and an interception.

As Ole Miss is going through Spring practices, Sage Ryan spoke to the media, and when asked about the matchup this season between LSU and Ole Miss, Sage Ryan said the following.

" I can’t wait. I’m seeing red already. I’m ready. I can’t wait to go against my former teammates, like Aaron Anderson and all of them. I know they’ve got a couple new guys, so I’m ready to compete. It doesn’t matter who lines up in front of me. And my guy Nuss (quarterback Garrett Nussmeier) back there, so it’s going to be fun. We came in in the same class, so it’s gonna be a good battle, and I’m ready."

For LSU fans, seeing Sage Ryan poke the bear will both make them angry and also make them laugh. The defensive play for LSU during Sage Ryan's time in Baton Rouge was a horrible stretch especially at safety.

As LSU is going to trot out one of the Nation's best wide receiver rooms, Sage Ryan will have to put his money where his mouth is. Given that LSU has deep threats like Chris Hilton Jr, Barion Brown, Jelani Watkins, and Kyle Parker, Ryan will get his wish and for his sake he better rise to the occasion.
