LSU's 2026 schedule is among the toughest in the country. That tends to be a common theme for the Tigers, and is something Lane Kiffin will become accustomed to during his tenure in Baton Rouge - especially with the SEC moving to nine conference games next season.
Jam-packed weekend awaits for Tiger fans as several sports take center stage
On Thursday, one of LSU's future schedules got changed up a bit. Brett McMurphy reported that SMU is moving two future games from their home venue of Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas to the home of the Dallas Cowboys, AT&T Stadium, in Arlington. The change impacts LSU's 2029 matchup against the Mustangs, which is set for Saturday, September 1.

LSU's 2029 matchup against SMU moved to AT&T Stadium
In addition to moving the matchup against LSU in 2029, SMU also moved its 2027 matchup against Oklahoma to AT&T Stadium. Gerald J. Ford Stadium recently underwent a $100 million renovation that included adding a new football complex, weight room, training facilities and football offices to the south end zone. But the facelift wasn't enough to keep the matchups against Oklahoma and LSU in Dallas.
According to McMurphy, SMU chose to move the games from Gerald J. Ford Stadium to AT&T Stadium for branding and revenue purposes. The two marquee non-conference matchups offer plenty of revenue opportunities for SMU, and AT&T Stadium's capacity of 80,000 is more than double the 33,200 capacity at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on SMU's campus.
The matchup between the Tigers and Mustangs in 2029 will be the second of a home-and-home series. The first meeting will take place at Tiger Stadium on September 2, 2028. It will be the first meeting between the two schools since 1934.
The matchup in Arlington will be LSU's first visit to AT&T Stadium since August 31, 2013. The 12th-ranked Tigers defeated the 20th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs by a score of 37-27 in that contest.
Year 1 of the Lane Kiffin era begins on September 5 when LSU hosts Clemson at Tiger Stadium. An official kick-off time has yet to be announced.
