On Saturday Night, Garrett Nussmeier may have put together one of if not his best performances as LSU's starting quarterback. After being sent to the locker room with what looked like a serious shoulder injury, Garrett Nussmeier came back and played like a man possessed. The incredible highs that Nussmeier showed are exactly why if you're an LSU fan you're hoping that Garrett Nussmeier returns for one more season.

That isn't necessarily a certainty as Garrett Nussmeier has to make a decision on whether he'd like to return for one more season or head off to the NFL Draft. This quarterback class is a weaker class and draft analysts like Todd McShay and Mel Kiper have been high on Garrett Nussmeier.

After the game Garrett Nussmeier was asked about whether he had made a decision or not and he said the following.

"I have not decided about that. I have not had discussions, any conversations I wanted to leave that until after the season. I didn't want to go over that. I can't really tell you where I'm at right now or what I think. I know that I love being here at LSU, I know I love this team, this school, this organization, and this fanbase. I'll get into those conversations probably early this week and try and figure everything out from there."

Afterwards, Nussmeier did state that he was going to play in the Bowl Game no matter what which is a positive sign.

LSU needs Garrett Nussmeier back in 2025

When Garrett Nussmeier went down you got a glimpse into LSU's quarterback room as the staff went with AJ Swann which either tells you Rickie Collins isn't experienced enough or that he's not at the level where he can beat Swann out. The Tigers losing Bryce Underwood leaves the team without a clear answer in replacing Nussmeier. Hunting for a quarterback in the transfer portal can be fruitful like Miami saw with Cam Ward or it can derail a season like Florida State's.
