The LSU offense has scary potential in 2025. After a sensational campaign in 2024, Garrett Nussmeier could be in line for an even bigger 2025 season. Armed with plenty of experience, confidence, and talent, as well as an elite receiving core, Tiger fans have high hopes for Nussmeier and the LSU offense this season.

The 2025 season has the potential to be a record-breaking one for Nussmeier. The Lake Charles native has a chance to become the all-time passing yards leader in LSU history.

Nussmeier on the verge of history in 2025

Nussmeier enters the 2025 season with 5,772 passing yards to his name. That places him ninth on the list of LSU's all-time passing yards leaders. Tommy Hodson claims the top spot, as he threw for 9,115 yards for the Tigers from 1986-1989.

Despite sitting ninth on the list, Nussmeier is well within shouting distance of the No. 1 spot. He needs 3,344 passing yards in 2025 to become LSU's all-time passing yards leader. That's a number he easily exceeded last season, as he totaled 4,052 yards through the air along with tossing 29 touchdowns while completing nearly 65 percent of his passes.

Nussmeier was one of six quarterbacks in the country to throw for at least 4,000 yards last season, and 3,344 passing yards is a number that 15 quarterbacks hit. If Nussmeier repeats his production from last season, he will claim the top spot on LSU's all-time passing yards list. He has some wiggle room too, as his total of 4,052 yards last season is 708 yards more than what he needs to break the record.

LSU's elite receiving group can help Nussmeier break records

Armed with an elite receiving group that features the likes of Aaron Anderson, Zavion Thomas, Nic Anderson, Barion Brown, Kyle Parker, Chris Hilton Jr. and Destyn Hill, Nussmeier has plenty of weapons at his disposal. Transfer tight end Bauer Sharp also has the potential to be a prominent factor in the passing game.

Aaron Anderson is LSU's top returning wideout after totaling 61 catches for 884 yards and five touchdowns last season. After collecting five or more catches in eight games and at least three catches in all but one game last season, Anderson has the potential to reach the 1,000-yard mark in 2025. Earlier this offseason, he was named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list. Nussmeier totaled over 4,000 passing yards last season without having a 1,000-yard receiver, so getting an increase in production from Anderson would do wonders for LSU.

After an 8-4 regular season in 2024, Tiger fans are hungry for more in 2025. Nussmeier has the ability to take the Tigers to massive heights, and Tiger fans everywhere will be watching to see if he can cement his name among LSU's best.
