The LSU Tigers ended a three-game losing streak with a 23-22 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday. It wasn't the flashiest win and at times it was a frustrating watch, but at the end of the day LSU found some much-needed positivity by earning the victory. It's been a tumultuous season in Baton Rouge, and watching Frank Wilson earn his first win as LSU's interim head coach was a sight that all Tiger fans loved to see.
Harlem Berry makes the right move, but breaks the hearts of LSU bettors
One player who played a big role in LSU's rivalry win over Arkansas was RB Harlem Berry. The true freshman playmaker has seen his role increase in the Tiger offense in recent weeks, and he has made the most of his opportunity.
Harlem Berry continues to impress in the LSU backfield
According to 247Sports, Berry was the No. 1 RB in the country for the 2026 recruiting class. Hailing from Metairie, Berry finished his prep career with over 8,000 rushing yards and 150-plus touchdowns during his time at St. Martin's Episcopal School. As one of the most highly-touted prospects in the country, LSU made him a priority when building their 2025 recruiting class. Berry committed to the Tigers last December, and continues to turn heads with his impressive play over the last few weeks.
Berry saw just a single rushing attempt in his first collegiate game on the road at Clemson in Week 1. Over his first six games, Berry saw an average of just 4.3 carries per game and esclipsed the 50-yard mark just once in Week 2 against Louisiana Tech when he totaled 56 yards. However, his workload has increased in recent weeks. Berry has seen double-digit carries in three of his last four games, averaging 10.75 rushes per game. He's reached the 50-yard mark in all for of those games, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. He excelled again this past weekend against Arkansas, running for 52 yards on 11 carries while also bringing in three catches for 24 yards in the passing game.
Berry possesses an impressive skill set that uses his creativity and elusiveness to gain chunks of yards at a time. He is a shifty tailback who has a great feel for finding the right gap. With Caden Durham battling several injuries this season, Berry has stepped up when called upon. The LSU running game as a whole has struggled this season, but Berry is certainly an exciting bright spot.
On the season, Berry has rushed for 343 yards and two touchdowns on 69 carries. He figures to play a prominent role in LSU's backfield the rest of the season, and has a bright future ahead of him in Baton Rouge. Tiger fans are excited to see Berry close out the regular season strong against Western Kentucky and Oklahoma in upcoming weeks.
