The LSU Women's Basketball team gets to kick off an action packed weekend in Baton Rouge as they host the Northwestern State Lady Demons. The Tigers dominated their season opener with a 95-44 win over Eastern Kentucky University led by Flau'Jae Johnson who scored 25 points. Northwestern State is coming off a dominant win itself as they beat the Champion Christian Tigers 84-33.
The game gives Kim Mulkey and her team another chance to pickup a win while working through some of its issues. The Lady Tigers are still dealing with injuries they sustained in the preseason which has hurt this team's depth.
"We have depth, but we don't have it right now. So, I'm still piecing stuff together. Our depth will definitely help us down the road, but we've gotta get them out on that floor every day."Kim Mulkey
The good news is that LSU shouldn't face an opponent that can truly test the depth until they play in the Pink Flamingo Championship. This game should give Mulkey a chance to get younger players like Jada Richard and Aalayah Del Rosario more playing time after they played just eight minutes each last game.
Mjracle Sheppard will miss the game as she continues to deal with an ankle injury while we'll have to wait and see if Last-Tear Poa makes her season debut.
