The 2025 season will be Garrett Nussmeier's final collegiate season, but it may not be long before another Nussmeier quarterback is in Baton Rouge. Heading into his junior season at Marcus High School in Flower Mound, TX, Colton Nussmeier is drawing the eyes of several prominent progams, including LSU. Colton is Garrett's younger brother, and is currently rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 4 quarterback in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

As he prepares for a crucial junior campaign, Rivals' Sam Spiegelman and Steve Wiltfong predict that LSU will land the younger Nussmeier. In addition to LSU, Colton has received offers from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina, among others.

Another Nussmeier on the way?

Colton has some size on his older brother, as he stands at 6-foot-4 compared to Garrett's 6-foot-1. The younger Nussmeier completed 141 of his 235 pass attempts last season as a sophomore, which was good for a completion percentage of 60 percent. He also tossed 16 touchdown passes with only three interceptions.

Nussmeier has visited several schools during his recruitment process, including LSU on multiple occasions. According to Spiegelman, Nussmeier is eyeing visits to Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and LSU this fall.

Obviously, Garrett's experience at LSU is valuable in the recruitment of Colton. The 2025 season will be Garrett's fifth in Baton Rouge. He could have left on multiple occasions, but chose to stay. He could have transferred after not seeing the field much from 2021-2023. He could have left for the NFL after a strong 2024 season. But he never left. He chose to come back to LSU, and is now reaping the benefits. That says a lot about his belief and faith in the LSU program.

It also helps to have elite wide receiver development, which is something that LSU prides itself on. The Tigers continue to churn out top-tier NFL receiving talent, with players like Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, Malik Nabers, and Brian Thomas Jr. all shining on Sundays. That kind of development is not only appealing to receivers, but quarterbacks as well. Surely Colton has that in mind during his recruitment process.
