The LSU Baseball team is having an incredible season with a 27-3 record on the year with a 5 game winning streak after Monday's win over Louisiana Tech. The Tigers haven't had many issues this season but, the Tigers have struggled with pitching at times. While the starting pitching hasn't been as dominant as Jay Johnson would like, inconsistent play out of the bullpen has hurt the Tigers in their three losses and even in some of their wins.

LSUS currently has two star relief pitchers in Zac Cowan and Casan Evans who have sub 1.10 ERA through 20+ innings. While both players could be candidates for the starting rotation, LSU can't take them out of the bullpen yet, as there's no one that could clearly fill their roles.

Part of the reason LSU doesn't have another lights out reliever that can pitch multiple innings is because of the injury to Gavin Guidry. The Tigers are 30 games into the season and their best relief pitcher hasn't debuted as Gavin Guidry has dealt with a back injury. For weeks, Gavin Guidry has appeared almost ready to debut but, hasn't been able to take the mound.

After LSU's win over Louisiana Tech, Jay Johnson told LSU fans they'll have to wait another weekend as Guidry won't face Oklahoma but, he is eyeing a return the following weekend against Auburn.

While its once again not the news that LSU fans were looking for, it is at least finally a timeline to expect Guidry. While the hope is that Guidry will pitch that weekend, LSU fans will need to hope that all goes well before he returns and that after the start he's good to go for the rest of the season.

Getting Gavin Guidry back will be massive for LSU's bullpen as the Tigers will have another top tier arm that Jay Johnson can turn to. Zac Cowan and Casan Evans have been too trusted out of the bullpen to move to the starting rotation but, if Guidry comes back and returns to form that could change. The first step is getting Guidry back on the mound but, once he's back in the mix it only gives Jay Johnson more flexibility with his pitching staff.
