The injury bug continues to bite former LSU Tigers in the NFL this season. Most notably, Bengals QB Joe Burrow is out several months with a turf toe injury, and superstar WR Malik Nabers will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL. Former LSU QB and current Washington Commanders gunslinger Jayden Daniels is also battling through an injury, and his status for Washington's next game has been announced.

According to ESPN, Daniels has been ruled out for Washington's Monday night matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs due to a hamstring injury. Daniels suffered the injury this past Sunday against the Cowboys, and underwent an MRI on Monday. The good news is that the MRI revealed that the injury isn't considered long-term, although its enough to keep him sidelined for Washington's next game.

Commanders not taking any chances with Daniels' hamstring injury

The Commanders don't want to take any chances of Daniels aggravating the injury further against Kansas City. Hopefully Daniels is able to return to full health and suit up in Week 9 when the Commanders host the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 2.

Veteran QB Marcus Mariota will serve as Washington's QB1 against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. It will be Mariota's 3rd start this season, as he stepped in for Daniels in Week 3 and 4 when he was dealing with a knee sprain. Washington's offensive attack is dealing with several injuries, as wide receivers Terry McLaurin, Noah Brown, and Deebo Samuel are all dealing with injuries of their own.

Daniels put together a sensational rookie campaign last season that saw him earn NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. So far this season, Daniels has thrown for 1,031 yards with eight touchdowns and just one interception. He's also added 211 yards and a touchdown with his legs. Last week against the Cowboys, Daniels totaled 156 yards and a touchdown to go along with 35 rushing yards and a touchdown before suffering the injury.
