On Saturday Night, the LSU Lady Tigers hope for a SEC Tournament Title came to an end as LSU lost to the Texas Longhorns 56-49. The Lady Tigers were in the game until the very end but, one moment defined the game. Early in the third quarter, Aneesah Morrow drove to the basket but, her foot got caught and she had to be helped to the locker room. Morrow never returned which left LSU short handed as Flau'Jae Johnson remains out.
While the short term hurt as LSU's SEC Tournament hopes seemed dead the biggest concern remained the NCAA Tournament. The Lady Tigers are still one of the top teams in the Country when healthy and if Flau'Jae Johnson can return as well few teams will have as much firepower as LSU.
After the game, Kim Mulkey spoke to the media where she provided an update on LSU's star forward and her injury.
"I just talked to the doctor. The last Texas game she got stepped on and they put her in a boot cause it was bruised. She reaggravated — this is the medical term I got — She just reaggravated a mid foot sprain. She was wearing a boot last week, she’ll wear a boot now, but, you know, she’s good to go. She was fighting them to get back in the game and they’re like, oh, no, we got bigger fish to fry."Kim Mulkey
Wearing a boot won't be new to Morrow and its not something that LSU has been hiding as Morrow even arrived for the game in a walking boot. Its also great to hear that Morrow was fighting to get back into the game as it should indicate she'll be ready to go for the NCAA Tournament.
Following the game, Kim Mulkey eased the nerves of all LSU fans as she flat out said that the Tigers will have everybody for the Tournament.
"She can go for the can go for the tournament. She was ready to come back out there and the doctors said, why would you go out there? Win or lose, we got playoffs and are hosting. Everything’s good. I know the NCAA's watching. We have everybody!"Kim Mulkey
All eyes will now be on where LSU lands in the NCAA Tournament bracket which is officially set on Sunday. The Tigers were a two seed during the final week of the regular season but, lost three of their last four games which could drop them to a three seed. On one hand you could defend LSU's losses as two came without Flau'Jae Johnson and one came when Aneesah Morrow was injured. On the other hand, LSU's likely going to fall as other teams picked up more impressive wins over this stretch.
