The LSU Tigers got unfortunate news prior to kick-off against South Carolina, as WR1 Aaron Anderson was not able to suit up against the Gamecocks. The LSU passing attack hasn't been able to find a rhythm this season, and with their top target out, the Tigers needed other receivers to step up in Anderson's absence. That's exactly what Kyle Parker did.
Parker played a huge role in LSU's 20-10 win over South Carolina on Saturday night, as he hauled in five catches for 75 yards and a touchdown. His 75 yards were second on the team for the evening, trailing only Trey'Dez Green's 119 yards on eight catches.
Parker's score came at the right time and proved to be the game-winning touchdown. With the game tied 10-10 halfway through the 3rd quarter, Nussmeier hit Parker on a short five-yard slant route. The redshirt sophomore receiver would do the rest, as he turned on the jets for a 43-yard touchdown. The touchdown gave LSU a huge play in the passing game, which is something that has been missing from the Tiger offense so far this season.

Eyeing a bigger role in the LSU passing game, Parker made the most of his opportunities against South Carolina. He entered the game with nine catches for 91 yards on the season, and nearly reached that yardage total with his 75-yard performance against the Gamecocks. His five catches are also a career-high.
Hailing from Allen, Texas, Parker worked his way into the receiving rotation last season as a redshirt sophomore, but unfortunately his season was cut short after just four games due to a torn tricep tendon. He had just three catches for 55 yards and a touchdown in 2024.
Anderson is battling several injuries, and at this time it seems that his status for next week's game at Vanderbilt is still up in the air. Even if Anderson returns next week, Parker could see his role in the LSU offense continue to expand. He is a dynamic playmaker who is a nice compliment to the skill sets of Anderson and Green, and his strong performance against South Carolina continues to build trust with the coaching staff.
