The college football coaching carousel continues to have a drastic impact on the 2026 recruiting cycle. In Baton Rouge, Lane Kiffin has spent the first few days of his LSU tenure working to improve LSU's 12th-ranked recruiting class. Kiffin has flipped three Ole Miss commits to LSU and held on to 5-star DL commit Richard Anderson. Those are huge wins for Kiffin as he builds his 2026 roster. But Kiffin and the Tigers are in major danger of losing 4-star DL recruit Deuce Geralds.

Lane Kiffin seals the deal with 5-star recruit after late question marks

According to Rivals, Geralds will delay his signing until this Friday, December 5. Geralds originally committed to LSU on August 2, but several other schools are still in pursuit of his services. Most notably, Georgia Tech and Ole Miss are among the school working to flip him.

4-star LSU commit Deuce Geralds delays signing until Friday

Geralds opting not to sign with the Tigers on Wednesday is certainly worrisome for LSU fans. The 4-star prospect is ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 7 player in Georgia and the No. 6 defensive lineman in the country.

Brent Key and Georgia Tech are working hard to flip Geralds away from LSU. Geralds hails from Suwanee, Georgia, which is about a 40 minute drive from Georgia Tech's campus in Atlanta. The Ole Miss Rebels are also still in the hunt, as new head coach Pete Golding takes over for Kiffin in Oxford.

Interim head coach Frank Wilson has served as the main recruiter for Geralds, and his future remains unknown at this point in time. Wilson is a tremendous recruiter who has established strong relationships with many of LSU's 2026 commits, and with his future in Baton Rouge still in question, commits such as Geralds may decide to look elsewhere. Retaining Wilson could prove to be a beneficial move for Kiffin, but for now that remains to be seen.
