When Lane Kiffin made the move from Ole Miss to LSU, both Tiger and Rebel fans knew that the Magnolia Bowl rivalry would reach a new level of competitiveness. The breakup between Kiffin and Ole Miss was a messy one, which makes the matchup between the Tigers and Rebels on September 19 in Oxford even more intriguing.

Along with battling on the field, it's not uncommon for LSU and Ole Miss to be locked in battles on the recruiting trail as well. That seems to be the case when it comes to 4-star EDGE Mitchell Turner.

Hailing from Louisville, MS, Pete Golding is very interested in bringing Turner up the road to Oxford. Turner is ranked as the No. 3 defensive lineman in the 2027 recruiting class, and he debuted as the No. 288 overall prospect in the country in the Rivals300.

Golding extended an offer to Turner on January 26, and Ole Miss' recruitment of Turner took a step forward with the highly-touted prospect locking in an official multi-day visit with Ole Miss from June 5-7. Golding and the Rebels seem to be positioning themselves nicely in their pursuit of Turner, but Kiffin has LSU firmly in the mix as well.

Kiffin extended an offer to Turner on Friday, and the 4-star recruit took to social media to showcase his love for the LSU coaching staff.

Along with LSU and Ole Miss, Turner has also received offers from Alabama, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, and Texas A&M, among others.

Winning out on the pursuit for Turner would be yet another recruiting win for Kiffin in his early days at the helm of the LSU Football program. Kiffin has already brought multiple Ole Miss players with him from Oxford to Baton Rouge. He flipped 3-star OL Ryan Miret from Ole Miss to LSU, and signed transfers EDGE Princewill Umanmielen, LB TJ Dottery, OL Devin Harper, and WR Winston Watkins through the portal.

As Turner prepares for his senior season at Louisville High School, Kiffin and the Tigers will undoubtedly be looking to get him on campus for visit.
