Lane Kiffin continues to give LSU's roster a major overhaul through the transfer portal. Kiffin has now exceeded 30 additions via the portal, and still remains on the hunt for more talent. LSU hosted nearly a dozen recruits on Thursday, and has already received a commitment from former Oregon tight end Zach Grace from that group.

Another prized recruit Kiffin continues to pursue is safety Faheem Delane. Faheem is the younger brother of Mansoor Delane, who put together a sensational season with the Tigers in 2025 and is projected to be a First Round selection in April's NFL Draft.

The younger Delane is a top-10 portal safety per 247Sports and was ranked as the No. 8 safety in the country for the 2025 recruiting class. After visiting LSU on Thursday, Kiffin is looking to seal the deal.

Delane appeared in 13 games as a special teams reserve with the Buckeyes in 2025, and has 3 years of eligibility remaining. He is regarded as one of the top safeties still on the market, and has drawn the interest of several Power 4 programs. Getting him to sign with the purple and gold would be a solid get for Kiffin.

Faheem's older brother, Mansoor, emerged into a star cornerback with the Tigers in 2025. The elder Delane was targeted just 14 times on his 138 man-coverage snaps, allowing just 6 catches for a total of 68 yards on the season. For his efforts, he earned PFF’s second-best man-coverage grade (89.1) in all of college football. The Silver Spring, MD native also totaled 45 tackles and led the SEC in passes defended (13) and passes broken up (11).

Following the conclusion of the regular season, the senior cornerback became the fourth defensive back in LSU history to be selected as an unanimous All-American. He was also a finalist for the Thorpe Award, and is now projected as a First Round NFL Draft pick.

LSU's safety room for 2026 includes returning contributors Dashawn Spears and Tamarcus Cooley, as well as depth pieces Jhase Thomas and Aiden Hall. Kiffin already utilized the portal to bring in former Boise State safety Ty Benefield, who figures to compete for starting reps as well. Freshman Isaiah Washington is also set to join the mix. Given his strong upside, adding the younger Delane brother to this group could prove to be a beneficial move for Kiffin heading into 2026.
