As Lane Kiffin enters his third week as the head coach of the LSU Football program, he continues to build his coaching staff for the 2026 season. He took another step in doing so over the weekend by officially hiring Eric Wolford to be his offensive line coach.
Historic recruiting stat shows why choosing LSU was a no brainer for Lane Kiffin
Wolford brings nearly 30 years of coaching experience to LSU, and most recently served as Kentucky's OL coach from 2024-25. He's been coaching offensives lines in the SEC since 2017, spending time at South Carolina, Alabama, and Kentucky on two different occasions.
Lane Kiffin's new OL coach has a tall task ahead in 2026
As Wolford begins preapring for the 2026 season, he has his work cut out for him. The LSU offensive line took a major step back in 2025. The Tigers allowed 25 sacks in 12 games during the regular season, and poor play in the trenches led to a woeful rushing attack. Injuries also plagued the Tigers OL, which severely impacted LSU's depth up front. That poor performance has Tiger fans ready for an offensive line turnaround next season.
Looking ahead, LSU is set to return freshmen Solomon Thomas and Carius Curne, as well as starting center Braelin Moore. Moore was LSU's most important piece of the offensive line in 2025, but he dealt with multiple injuries and missed time on several occasions. That hindered LSU's offense as a whole, and him getting healthy plays a big part of LSU's offensive line potential for next season.
Help is also on the way in the form of 4-star OL prospect Brysten Martinez. The Gonzales, LA native is rated by 247Sports as the No. 4 player in Louisiana and the No. 10 offensive lineman in the country. Kiffin has also already flipped 3-star OL Ryan Miret from Ole Miss to LSU. It wouldn't be surprising to see Kiffin and Wolford dip into the transfer portal further for additional offensive line help.
After such a disappointing season in the trenches, Wolford is asked with revamping LSU's offensive line. He has plenty of experience to make it happen, and Tiger fans are eager to see improvements when the 2026 begins on September 5 against Clemson.
