The LSU Football program suffered a tough recruiting loss back on November 29 when top WR prospect Easton Royal committed to the Texas Longhorns.
Royal plays for Brother Martin High School in New Orleans, and is regarded as one of the most talented receivers in the 2027 recruiting class. More specifically, Royal is rated as a 5-star prospect and ranked as the No. 1 player in Louisiana and No. 3 wide receiver in the country by the 247Sports Composite.

Depsite Royal's commitment to Texas, Lane Kiffin isn't giving up. On Friday, Rivals reported that Royals has locked in an official visit with LSU. The announcement has Kiffin and the Tigers putting even more pressure on Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns as LSU turns up the heat.

5-star WR Easton Royal plans an official visit to LSU
A lot has changed surrounding the LSU Football program since Royal committed to Texas back in November. Royal's verbal commitment came one day before Kiffin was hired at LSU. Needless to say, there is a very different vibe surrounding the Tigers than there was back on November 29.
Kiffin has already made w wide variety of roster upgrades during his short time in Baton Rouge. Most notably, Kiffin retained several key playmakers from last year's team and inked the No. 1 transfer portal class in the country. He also signed a trio of 5-star recruits during the Early Signing Period. All of those moves, as well as upgrades to the coaching staff, have LSU fans feeling very optimistic about 2026 and beyond.
It seems that Royal has taken notice of the vibe change in Baton Rouge. Royal's visit is set to take place the weekend of May 28-30, as Kiffin and his staff look to make a lasting impression on the talented wideout.
Along with LSU, Royal has also scheduled visits to Tennessee and Florida for the spring. But Tiger fans have plenty of confidence in Kiffin's ability to get the job done.
