The LSU Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks are set to meet for the 24th time in their respective histories this Saturday night at Tiger Stadium. LSU has dominated the all-time series 20-2-1, and Brian Kelly's squad is looking to bounce back after a loss to Ole Miss two weeks ago.
LSU had a much-needed bye week in Week 6, so Tiger fans are eager to see if the team was able to work out the kinks and put forth a complimentary effort. LSU fans are also hoping that the bye week gave the Tigers time to get healthier. Several key players went down with injuries against the Rebels, and now that the first availability report for the South Carolina is out, one big looming question remains.
Aaron Anderson listed as questionable against South Carolina
WR Aaron Anderson is officially listed as questionable to play on Saturday night against the Gamecocks. Anderson went down with two separate injuries in the second quarter against Ole Miss and did not return. He is dealing with an elbow injury as well as a knee issue, and LSU fans are hoping he can suit up this weekend.
Anderson being listed as questionable is a bit surprising given the fact that Brian Kelly said he was "a go" earlier this week. Kelly spoke of Anderson's injuries before the bye week, stating that his top receiver can benefit greatly from the extra time off. "Modern medicine will get him ready for the South Carolina game," Kelly said. Hopefully Anderson's status of questionable is just a precautionary measure as the LSU medical staff continues to monitor his injuries over the next several days.
Getting Anderson back would be a huge boost for the Tiger passing attack. Anderson leads the Tigers in receiving yards with 305, and is second on the team with 23 receptions despite missing the entire second half against Ole Miss. The junior wideout led LSU in receptions (61) and receiving yards (884) to go along with five touchdowns last season.
The good news is that RB Caden Durham is listed as probable. The same goes for DT Ahmad Breaux, while OT Paul Mubenga is listed as doubtful. Kick-off between the Tigers and Gamecocks is slated for 6:45 p.m. CT on Saturday night in Death Valley.
