After a relatively quiet first week in the transfer portal, the LSU Basketball program is having a busy week hosting visits. On Monday, the Tigers secured two commitments landing Mississippi State's starting center Michael Nwoko and top-ten transfer Dedan Thomas Jr. On Tuesday, LSU had a zoom visit with UCF star Keyshawn Hall and hosted brothers TJ and TK Simpkins.

As LSU looks to retool their roster after a 3-15 season in the SEC, the Tigers are looking to strike big in the transfer portal once again on Wednesday, this time turning their attention from the guard position to the front court.

LSU Hosts the Summit League Player of the Year Marquel Sutton

On Wednesday, the LSU Tigers get Omaha transfer Marquel Sutton on campus for a visit coming off of a visit to Kansas State and before he takes a visit to Nebraska.

This season, Marquel Sutton was the Summit League Player of the Year, averaging 18.9 points per game, 7.9 rebounds per game, and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 47.9% from the field. Sutton led Omaha to the NCAA Tournament where they lost to St John's in a game where he scored 11 points with 4 rebounds.

Landing Marquel Sutton would be a massive addition for Matt McMahon and the LSU Basketball team as he'd instantly bolster the front court. The Tigers lacked size for most of the season and the addition of Sutton would only help LSU in ensuring that issue doesn't occur again. Sutton is an athletic forward that can run the floor and play like a Point Forward.

Adding Sutton to the roster could however lead to a departure from LSU's roster as the Tigers front court is a bit crowded. LSU is currently returning Jalen Reed, Daimion Collins, and Robert Miller III while adding Mike Nwoko from the transfer portal and Freshman Matt Gilhool. The Tigers could be looking for more of a center power forward dynamic rather than just playing two centers or two power forwards.
