After a red hot start to the transfer portal, the LSU Basketball team took nearly a month to put the finishing touches on this roster. During that time period, LSU saw another hole open up as freshman Point Guard Curtis Givens III departed for the transfer portal. Coming into this final stretch of adding players the two biggest needs for the Tigers was another player on the wing and a guard that could replace Curtis Givens III.
The LSU Tigers kicked off the week by adding the presence the Tigers needed on the wing landing UC Davis transfer forward Pablo Tamba. The addition of Tamba meant LSU had just one more hole to fill and one glaring need to address.
LSU adds a sharpshooting guard to replace Curtis Givens III
On Friday, LSU filled the void left by losing Curtis Givens III to the transfer portal, landing a commitment from Memphis transfer PJ Carter.
The addition comes as a surprise to LSU fans as the news of Carter’s visit was kept fairly quiet.
While PJ Carter’s stats don’t jump off of the page as he averaged just 5.4 points per game and 1.5 rebounds per game it is easy to see why LSU moved to add Carter to the team. This season, Carter shot 39.3% from three while attempting just 3.3 threes per game. If LSU can get Carter more opportunities to shoot the three he'll be a great addition to the Tigers bench.
LSU desperately needed to address it's three point struggles this season after an abysmal year from deep. The Tigers shot just 30.5% from three and PJ Carter would've been the best shooter the Tigers had aside from Cam Carter. LSU still needs to add a guard with the ability to handle the ball but, overall the roster is almost full set for 2025-26.
