While 16 programs across College Basketball are still vying for a National Championship, the LSU Basketball program is starting its rebuild for the 2025-26 season. This season was a massive disappointment for LSU as the Tigers went just 3-15 in SEC Play taking a massive stepback after the Tigers showed promise the year prior.
The good news for LSU fans is that the program has vowed to invest more resources into the team on the NIL front to build a competitive team going forward. As the news continues to fly on the opening of the transfer portal, here is all of the latest from the LSU Basketball program.
LSU loses three players to the transfer portal (so far)
As things currently stand on Monday, LSU has seen three players enter the transfer portal as Tyrell Ward, Corey Chest, and Mike Williams entered the portal. After missing the entire season, Tyrell Ward was expected while both Chest and Williams departing aren't massive shocks. The players to monitor the rest of the week are Freshmen Vyctorius Miller and Robert Miller who will garner a ton of interest from high major programs.
After a 3-15 season in the SEC, there had to be a ton of turnover and no one loss is a massive loss aside from the Freshmen as there's a reason LSU finished 15th in the SEC. The Tigers have committed to an overhaul on the NIL front and that can't happen unless roster spots open up.
LSU shows early interest in several transfers
While teams weren't able to contact players until they entered the transfer portal, there's always some early contact. LSU has shown some interest in some players early on mostly at the guard positions as LSU will need to replace Cam Carter, Jordan Sears, and Mike Williams thus far. If LSU is going to add at one position, the team could use more size on the wings and a bigger center as LSU constantly struggled matching size.
