The transfer portal got quiet for LSU as the Tigers entered preparation for the Texas Bowl but, things were always going to ramp back up. The transfer portal opened a second time for LSU as a second window opens for five days after each team's Bowl game.

The latest player to enter their name into the transfer portal is defensive tackle Kimo Makane'ole who entered the portal on Friday.

Makane'ole signed with LSU during the 2021 recruiting cycle as a three-star recruit at guard out of Florida. He'd Redshirt as a True Freshman before playing in 5 games during the 2022 season, mostly against Purdue in the Citrus Bowl. In 2023, Makane'ole played in 30 snaps mostly facing Army and Grambling while he appeared in just four games.

This offseason as LSU needed to find talent at defensive tackle, the staff moved him to defensive tackle hoping he could become a player in the rotation. The two Spring transfer additions, the Freshmen emerging, and Paris Shand moving inside all played a factor in Makane'ole missing out on playing time.

This transfer cycle, LSU added defensive tackle Sydir Mitchell as well as signing four highly touted recruits at defensive tackle out of High School. Given the amount of competition in the room and the fact that it isn't Makane'ole's natural position it makes a ton of sense that he's moving positions.

It'll be interesting to see where Kimo ends up and which position he ends up playing whether its defensive tackle or on the offensive line.
