The Spring Transfer portal window is still open for College Football players to enter and find their next programs. For the LSU football program, it was a quiet spring thus far as John Emery Jr was told to transfer, while former walk-on wide receiver Javen Nicholas also entered the transfer portal. The quiet spring is not a surprise for LSU fans after the Tigers went all out during the Winter transfer window, bringing in the biggest class of the Brian Kelly era.

As of late, the LSU Football team is starting to show some interest in transfers even though Brian Kelly told the fanbase to expect a quiet transfer cycle. As the Tigers host elite defensive lineman Bernard Goodman on a transfer visit there was a sense that the LSU Football team could lose a player from the defensive line. On Friday Night, the LSU Football team lost its first scholarship player to the transfer portal.

LSU signee Dilan Battle enters the transfer portal before playing at LSU

On Friday Night, true freshman defensive tackle Dilan Battle entered his name into the transfer portal marking the first scholarship player to leave LSU this Spring.

Dilan Battle was an early enrollee for the LSU Football program, enrolling in January and going through Spring practices with the Tigers. According to On3's Industry Recruiting Rankings, Battle was a three star recruit ranked as the 653rd ranked player in the class, the 68th ranked defensive lineman, and the 88th ranked player out of Texas.

While Dilan Battle entering the transfer portal before playing may be a surprise, the writing may have been on the wall for his departure. Battle was heavily recruited to LSU by defensive line coach Bo Davis who has since left LSU to coach the New Orleans Saints defensive line. The departure does open a scholarship for LSU which could lead to the Tigers going after an instant impact piece in the transfer portal.
