The transfer portal can give your team a ton of new pieces from instant impact players to developmental pieces. What it can also do is wipe away players you hoped would develop in the program if they don't start early on in their careers. One of the players that was being penciled in as a potential starter for LSU was edge rusher Da'Shawn Womack as Bradyn Swinson and Sai'Vion Jones are heading off to the NFL.
The Tigers however saw Womack enter the Transfer Portal looking for a chance to play next season. The former five star commit has found his new program as he has committed to Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels.
The news doesn't come as a surprise as Kiffin and Ole Miss have become the biggest transfer portal users constantly going after former top recruits.
As a Recruit, Womack was the 12th ranked player in the Country, the 3rd ranked edge rusher, and the top recruit out of Maryland.
Obviously, losing a former five-star recruit hurts especially as LSU is looking for edge rushers in the transfer portal. The Tigers have set up visits with Will Heldt and Kameron Olds while they'll continue to evaluate the edge rushers in the transfer portal. LSU got solid play out of Gabe Reliford while players like Dylan Carpenter, Kolaj Cobbins, CJ Jackson, and Ahmad Breaux should see extended playing time in the Texas Bowl.
Womack will get a chance to play LSU on September 27th while his former teammates will get the chance to prove that the grass wasn't greener on the other side.
