Since the moment Brian Kelly was fired, Lane Kiffin has been at the top of LSU hot boards as a top target to land as Kelly's replacement. Kelly was fired on October 26 following an embarrassing 49-25 loss to Texas A&M, and leaves Baton Rouge without ever appearing in the College Football Playoff.

Harlem Berry continues to burst on the scene with another strong performance

Kiffin's Ole Miss Rebels likely secured their spot in this year's CFP with a 34-24 win over Florida this past weekend to move to 10-1 on the season. As the Rebels prepare for the Egg Bowl against Mississippi State, the Lane Kiffin drama has reached new heights.

LSU in serious pursuit of Lane Kiffin

Along with LSU, Florida is also in hot pursuit of Kiffin's services. Additionally, Ole Miss is fighting to keep him in Oxford. Kiffin has been very vocal about how much he loves coaching at Ole Miss, but it now seems that he is seriously considering leaving. On Monday, it was reported that several of Kiffin's family members - including his ex-wife who he's reconciled with - took a private plane to Baton Rouge to tour the city.

To make the situation even wilder, Kiffin's family was reportedly in Gainesville on Sunday as the Gators turn up the heat in their pursuit of Kiffin as well. With this in mind, it's clear that both LSU and Florida are pulling out all the stops in hopes of landing Kiffin. Additionally, it's apparent that Kiffin and his family are at least exploring the possibility of leaving Oxford - something that the coach didn't seem to publicly open to just a short time ago.

Furthermore, it appears that Ole Miss isn't too pleased with the Kiffin sweepstakes taking place this week. According to On3, Ole Miss has given Kiffin a deadline to reveal his future plans. If he doesn't meet that deadline, Ole Miss could stop him from coaching his team in the College Football Playoff. The move from Ole Miss has the potential to backfire, as Kiffin could very well still want to coach the Rebels to a chance at a national title - even if he decides to go elsewhere at the end of the season.

All in all, the Lane Kiffin sweepstakes don't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Both LSU, Florida, and Ole Miss are giving it all they've got, and only one can emerge victorious. Get your popcorn ready - it could be a wild week in the SEC.
