As the season winds down, we're going to start to see LSU start its push toward building up the 2026 recruiting class. The Tigers currently hold five commitments in the 2026 class giving the Tigers the Nation's 8th ranked recruiting class. All five commitments in the class are from players in Louisiana after the latest commitment from Wide Receiver Kenny Darby.
Eventually, LSU is going to need to start picking up some commitments from out of state as that's how you land a top-five class like LSU currently has with the 2024 class thanks to out of state commitments like Bryce Underwood and DJ Pickett.
The Tigers have made some solid progress with Out of State recruits in the 2026 cycle and those relationships will only get stronger once LSU starts hosting them on official visits this offseason. The Tigers just rolled out their latest offer to a 2026 recruit offering Tight End Landen Miree.
According to On3's Industry Recruiting Rankings, Miree is a three-star recruit ranked as the 418th best player in the country, the 21st ranked tight end, and the 19th ranked player in Ohio. Earlier this week, Miree teased that he'll be cutting his long list of suitors into a Top Ten which will make it interesting on if he'll return.
Tight End may be a massive need in the 2026 Recruiting Class
The numbers in the tight end room we're already affected earlier this season when Mac Markway entered the transfer portal transferring to Nebraska right before the season. The Tigers currently hold two commitments from JD LaFleur and Mike Tyler but, the latter is a potential flip candidate to stay home and play for South Carolina. If LSU only signs one tight end we may see them either push in the transfer portal or attempt to sign 2 to 3 in the 2026 class. The decision on whether or not LSU will need transfers will come down to if Mason Taylor returns or heads to the NFL paired with not losing any of the current tight ends to the portal.
