This weekend wasn't the massive recruiting weekend everyone hoped for as LSU had 300 recruits in attendance but, the Tigers got blown out by Alabama making it a more somber mood. Winning a massive game like beating Alabama is massive for recruiting as recruits love to jump on board and ride the momentum of the program. The commitments you really want are the ones that commit when things aren't great which indicates they'll stick around.
Last Weekend, Louisiana Native and Mississippi State commit Kenny Darby reopened his recruitment as he decommitted from the Bulldogs which we said would become a recruitment to keep an eye on for LSU. The LSU Tigers offered Darby a scholarship this weekend when he came to town for the Alabama Game.

After the scholarship offer LSU moved quickly and has landed a commitment from the in-state wide receiver.

Darby becomes the 5th player to join LSU's 2026 recruiting class and is now the 5th in-state recruit LSU has landed. The Tigers now have commitments from two wide-receivers in the class including Darby and Jakai Anderson. LSU currently holds the 8th ranked recruiting class in the 2026 cycle.
According to On3, Darby is the 50th ranked receiver in the class and the 8th ranked player in Louisiana. His recruiting ranking may not be the highest but, LSU has had a ton of success with underrated wide receiver commits from In-State and this could be another example.
As Nick Saban always says, its easy to replace wide receivers at LSU because if you shake the trees in Louisiana, they'll fall out of them.
