Over the last few days, new LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. has been linked to several NFL jobs. More specifically, an ESPN report over the weekend linked Weis to the New York Giants job opening. Weis heading to New York would reunite him with Jaxson Dart, who he coached at Ole Miss for 3 seasons.
The dream of a Trinidad Chambliss and Lane Kiffin reunion at LSU takes a major hit
However, Weis says he has no interest in leaving college football for the NFL at this time. Speaking with On3's Chris Low, Weis denied any interest in the Giants job, and doesn't have interest in any NFL job at this point in time.
"“I’m fired up about finishing the job at Ole Miss and the future at LSU," Weis told Low. That quote has LSU fans fired up, as it now seems that Tiger fans don't need to worry about their new offensive guru jumping ship before the 2026 season.

Charlie Weis Jr. is fired up for the future at LSU
Weis is pulling double duty at the moment, as he's staying on as Ole Miss' offensive coordinator for their run in the College Football Playoff. After a thrilling 39-34 victory over Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, the Rebels are now set to face the Miami Hurricanes in the Fiesta Bowl and CFP Semifinals on Thursday night. The winner of that contest will meet the winner of Indiana and Oregon in the CFP Championship Game.
Simultaneously, Weis is preparing to take the same role at LSU and will join Kiffin in Baton Rouge whenever Ole Miss' season concludes. Tiger fans are eager to see what Kiffin and Weis can do in 2026, as the LSU offense was a major disappointment in 2025. The Tigers finished dead last in the SEC in yards per game (333.5), and failed to score more than 25 points in a game against an FBS opponent throughout the regular season.
As Weis prepares to battle the Hurricanes on Thursday, Kiffin and his staff are hard at work finding top talent in the transfer portal. LSU missed out on former Cincinnati QB Brendan Sorsby, but Kiffin is now pursing Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt. No matter who Kiffin brings in as his QB1, Weis has a big job ahead in leading an offensive resurgence in Baton Rouge in 2026.
